Today, my last day at Strathaven Academy, has brought a mixture of feelings and emotions. Thank you for your cards, best wishes and overwhelming generosity.
My decision to leave was a very difficult one and is purely for personal and family reasons. It has been my absolute privilege to serve the Strathaven Academy community over the last five years. Being Head Teacher of Strathaven Academy has been incredibly rewarding and the highlight of my career to date. Around a third of my headship has been during the pandemic, and collectively we have also faced many other challenges together as school community. I am extremely proud of our work and the progress we have made during this time.
We recognise that there is much work still to be done, and I am confident that the excellent team, under the leadership of Ms Huq, will take the school from strength to strength. They will continue to work with and listen to the school community, to deliver key improvement priorities on our journey to excellence.
I would like to personally thank parents/carers for their support over the years. A special thanks to all of the staff at the Academy for their hard work, support and professionalism. I will miss all of the partners, friends and supporters of Strathaven Academy. But most of all I will miss our amazing young people. They are ambassadors of Strathaven Academy, and I wish each and every one of them every success and happiness for the future.
Together we thrive.
