Many people are afraid of cancer and don’t know all the facts. To support our students and as part of our PSHE programme at Strathaven Academy, we have invited Teenage Cancer Trust to speak to our S2 students about cancer and health.
This presentation has an interactive opportunity for students to learn about and discuss the following:
– What is cancer
– Common signs and symptoms
– The impact of cancer on a young person
– Types of treatment
– Healthy living
– Breaking down fears about cancer
Throughout the presentation, students are encouraged to become experts of their own body and to speak to health professionals about any concerns.
We would like to thank Teenage Cancer Trust for coming in to Strathaven Academy to educate our young people about raising the awareness of cancer and providing an environment for pupils to talk openly about their health.
