Update – The winners of this competition were announced at the Creative and Aesthetic Showcase last week. Les Hoggan and Donald Cooper from Strathaven Rotary announced the successful pupil’s names and handed out the prize money to the deserving photographers.

What an incredibly high standard of winning entries! The twelve images above will be featured in the Strathaven Rotary’s 2026 calendar. Thanks again to Les and Donald of Strathaven Rotary for the opportunity to run this photography competition each year and the pupils and staff of the Art and Design department are grateful for their continued support.

The Art and Design department are thrilled to announce the return of our annual Photography Competition.
In association with The Rotary Club of Strathaven, pupils are asked to capture photographs around Strathaven and Avondale.
1st Prize – £250, 2nd Prize – £150, 3rd Prize – £100 and 12 entries will be selected for a 2026 community calendar.
Images must be –
- in landscape orientation
- taken in Strathaven and Avondale area
- can represent seasonal aspects and community events
- from August 2023 to present
- not entered for previous school photography competition
- digital images submitted using the drop boxes below
