The music and drama pupils of Strathaven Academy visited the residents at Collisdene Care Centre last week for Burns’ night. Pupils performed songs and treated residents to musical solos in celebration of Robert Burns. Lara D played ‘Morrison’s Jig’ on fiddle, Rosie P played whistle as the haggis was paraded around the room. Arwen S, Erica H, Skarlett B and Millie M performed the ‘Address to a Haggis’. Everyone enjoyed Romano M’s version of ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’ on acoustic guitar. The ceilidh band then performed a few tunes for the residents. The afternoon was very successful and it was great for pupils to be involved in something special for the local community.
