Foundation Apprenticeships
Foundation Apprenticeships combine a work-based qualification with academic learning and industry involvement as part of the senior phase curriculum.
Starting in S5 or S6, the programme takes one or two years to complete. Pupils spend part of the week out of school at college doing hands-on learning. They also undertake a high quality work placement with employers and at the end receive an industry-recognised qualification. The programme is designed to close the gap between the classroom and the workplace and focuses on preparing school pupils for employment in emerging sectors.
